Intraosseous hibernoma, a rare bone tumor, was incidentally found in a woman's sacrum. Radiologists should consider this rare tumor in the differential diagnosis of sclerotic bone lesions.
Area of Science:
- Orthopedic Oncology
- Radiology
- Pathology
Background:
- Intraosseous hibernomas are exceedingly rare benign tumors originating from brown adipose tissue within bone.
- Recent literature has seen an increase in reported cases, highlighting the need for greater awareness.
Observation:
- A 40-year-old female presented with chronic lower back pain, and imaging revealed an incidental sacral lesion.
- The lesion was thoroughly evaluated using standard radiological imaging techniques.
Findings:
- The imaging characteristics of the sacral lesion were consistent with intraosseous hibernoma.
- A literature review was conducted to compare the current case with previously documented intraosseous hibernomas.
Implications:
- Increased utilization of radiologic investigations is likely to lead to more frequent diagnoses of intraosseous hibernoma.
- Radiologists should include intraosseous hibernoma in the differential diagnosis for patients presenting with sclerotic bone lesions, particularly in the sacrum.

Introduction to Documentation and Reporting
Nursing documentation records essential information and details regarding a patient's care and treatment in written or electronic form. It is a critical aspect of nursing practice that involves documenting assessments, interventions, outcomes, and other relevant details about a patient's health status.
Documentation maps the patient's health journey by creating a comprehensive...
