Background:

  • A novel classification system was proposed: Type I (pure resting), Type II (mixed resting/action, similar frequencies), Type III (pure action), and Type IV (mixed resting/action, differing frequencies).
  • This study aimed to determine the prevalence and clinical correlates of these tremor types in PD patients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To introduce and validate a refined classification system for tremors in Parkinson disease (PD).
  • To assess the prevalence of different tremor types using the new classification.
  • To explore potential associations between tremor types and clinical characteristics in PD.

Main Methods:

  • A descriptive study evaluated 315 consecutive PD patients with tremor.
  • Statistical analyses included chi-squared tests for categorical variables and ANOVA for quantitative variables.
