Summary

Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) causes fatal encephalitis in humans and is endemic across Eurasia. Recent studies in Japan reveal widespread TBEV distribution in Hokkaido and emerging concerns elsewhere, alongside new diagnostic tools.
