Abstract:
Paget's disease of the breast is often an important early warning sign of underlying breast carcinoma, usually arising from the major mammary ducts. Because the conditions may be confused with benign diseases of the nipple, treatment is frequently delayed. If Paget's disease is the sole indication for surgery, the likelihood of cure is high. When evaluating nipple lesions, physicians should maintain a high index of suspicion for Paget's disease of the breast.
