    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and outcomes of compression headless mini-screws (Gerbert's screws) and mini-plates in treating radial head fractures.
    • To compare the advantages and disadvantages of these two fixation methods.
    • To identify optimal fixation strategies for different fracture types, including complex Mason type III.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 41 patients with radial head fractures.
    • Application of Gerbert's screws in 32 cases, mini-plates in 9 cases, and a combination in 4 cases.
    • Assessment of early postoperative complications and long-term functional outcomes using the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS).

    • No early postoperative complications were reported for either method.
    • Gerbert's screws group (32 patients) achieved a mean MEPS of 91, with follow-up >6 months in 84% of cases.

    • Mini-plates fixation was less secure in some cases due to positioning constraints.

    Conclusions:

    • Gerbert's screws provide good anatomical and functional results for radial head fractures.
    • Mini-plates alone may not ensure secure fixation for all fracture patterns.
    • Combining mini-plates and Gerbert's screws is recommended for complex, comminuted fractures such as Mason type III.
