Abstract:
Intraparenchymal extension of multiple myeloma is a rare manifestation of the disease. Here, we present a case of a patient with multiple myeloma lesions situated adjacent to the meninges and intraparenchymally.
Insights
Multiple myeloma rarely spreads into the brain parenchyma. This case report details a patient with multiple myeloma exhibiting unusual meningeal and intraparenchymal brain lesions.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Oncology
- Hematology
Background:
- Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by plasma cell proliferation.
- Intraparenchymal involvement of the central nervous system by multiple myeloma is exceptionally rare.
Observation:
- This report describes a unique case of multiple myeloma with lesions adjacent to the meninges.
- The patient presented with intraparenchymal lesions within the brain tissue.
Findings:
- The findings highlight an unusual pattern of central nervous system (CNS) involvement in multiple myeloma.
- Demonstrates the potential for extramedullary disease manifestation in the brain parenchyma.
Implications:
- This case expands the understanding of the rare neurological complications of multiple myeloma.
- Highlights the importance of considering intraparenchymal myeloma in the differential diagnosis of CNS lesions in affected patients.
