Background:

  • Accurate information transfer to dental labs is crucial for successful implant restorations.
  • The biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) is a key approach for implant rehabilitation in the aesthetic zone.
  • Convergent collar implants offer specific restorative challenges.

Observation:

  • Two patients with central incisor implants (convergent collar) were treated using BOPT.
  • One implant was restored via a classical (analog) workflow, the other via a digital workflow.
  • Radiographic and Pink Esthetic Score (PES) evaluations were performed at baseline and three-year follow-up.

Findings:

  • Both classical and digital workflows accurately conveyed implant position and soft tissue data.
  • Radiographic analysis revealed no bone resorption at the three-year follow-up for either method.
  • The classical workflow resulted in a PES of 8, while the digital workflow improved PES from 4 to 9.

Implications:

  • Both classical and digital workflows are effective for precise information transfer in implant restorations.
  • The BOPT approach combined with these workflows yields stable bone levels and excellent esthetic outcomes.
  • Digital workflows may offer enhanced esthetic predictability in implant rehabilitation.
