A novel lignin-degrading bacterium, Pseudomonas humi sp. nov. CCA1, was identified from Japanese soil. This Gram-negative Pseudomonas strain exhibits unique phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, distinguishing it as a new species.
