Nurses encounter significant barriers, such as lack of time and support, hindering research utilization in clinical practice. Addressing these clinical setting factors is crucial for improving patient care quality.
Area of Science:
- Nursing Research
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Healthcare Quality Improvement
Background:
- Integrating research findings into clinical practice is essential for enhancing healthcare quality.
- Nurses frequently encounter obstacles that impede the application of research in their daily work.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the barriers perceived by nurses regarding the utilization of research findings in clinical practice.
Main Methods:
- A cross-sectional survey was conducted at a specialist hospital in Saudi Arabia.
- Data were collected using the Barriers to Research Utilization questionnaire via convenience sampling.
Main Results:
- The overall mean score for barriers was 2.67 (SD = 0.47), indicating moderate to high perceived barriers.
- The primary barriers identified were lack of time, insufficient physician cooperation, and inadequate support from other staff.
- Nurses in pediatric and maternity units reported a higher prevalence of these barriers.
Conclusions:
- Clinical setting factors represent the most significant perceived barriers for nurses in integrating research into practice.
- Implementing reforms within clinical areas is recommended to effectively overcome these identified barriers and promote research utilization.

Nursing Clinical Information System
A Nursing Clinical Information System (NCIS) is a specialized type of healthcare information system tailored to meet the unique needs of nursing practice. It incorporates the principles of nursing informatics to streamline information management and improve the quality of care delivery.
Critical attributes of NCIS include:
Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Practice
Theories provide a perspective to assess patients' conditions and organize data and methods. They also assist in analyzing and interpreting information. They represent a...

Physiological Barriers
The blood endothelial barrier is the most porous of these. It allows all small ionized, un-ionized, and lipophilic molecules to pass through the endothelial lining into the interstitial space...

Characteristics of Practical Op Amps
The ratio of differential gain to the common-mode gain is defined as the common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). This ratio quantifies the ability of operational amplifiers (op-amps) to reject common-mode...
