Earlier this month, patients torn apart by bullets sprayed in an Orlando nightclub arrived by the dozens at the area's sole Level 1 trauma center. Clinicians who routinely handle the worst injuries in healthcare were in tears as they described the experience. In the months before the horrific Orlando shooting, Modern Healthcare was exploring the toll on those whose job it is to repair the carnage from guns in a workplace that rarely slows down to take stock of the emotional toll on employees.
