Background:

  • Linear IgA disease (LAD) is a rare autoimmune blistering disease.
  • Ocular manifestations of LAD are uncommon and not well-documented in American literature.

Observation:

  • A 54-year-old Filipino woman with LAD presented with symptoms of chronic cicatricial conjunctivitis.
  • Examination revealed subconjunctival fibrosis and symblepharon formation.

Findings:

  • Direct immunofluorescence of conjunctival biopsy showed linear IgA and C3 deposition along the epithelial basement membrane.
  • Ophthalmologic findings were consistent with severe ocular surface disease.

Implications:

  • This case expands the understanding of ocular manifestations in linear IgA disease.
