Summary

Serological assessment of serum pepsinogen can identify individuals at higher risk for gastric cancer. Combining colonoscopy with this gastric preneoplastic screening may aid prevention strategies in the general population.

Conclusions:

  • Serum pepsinogen assessment effectively identifies patients with elevated gastric cancer risk.
  • A combined strategy of screening colonoscopy and serological screening for preneoplastic gastric conditions is recommended for the general population.
  • This approach supports proactive gastric cancer prevention efforts.
