    Summary

    Rheumatic disorders, including scleroderma and destructive arthropathy, are prevalent in primary biliary cirrhosis patients. HLA A1+B8 was more common in patients with scleroderma.

    Background:

    • Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a chronic liver disease with autoimmune origins.
    • The association between PBC and other autoimmune or rheumatic disorders is not fully understood.
    • Investigating rheumatic conditions in PBC patients can reveal shared etiological factors and improve patient management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the prevalence of various rheumatic disorders in a cohort of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis.
    • To identify specific rheumatic conditions associated with PBC and their clinical manifestations.
    • To explore potential immunogenetic links, such as HLA A1+B8, in PBC patients with rheumatic disorders.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 83 patients diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis was evaluated.
    • Patients underwent assessment for the presence and type of rheumatic disorders.
    • Immunogenetic analysis, specifically HLA A1+B8 typing, was performed on patients with scleroderma.
