Background:

Neurosurgeons face challenges in selecting and applying appropriate research designs and statistical methods.
A specific difficulty identified is the mislabeling and inappropriate use of case-control studies in neurosurgical literature.

Purpose of the Study:

To quantitatively assess and rigorously review the appropriateness of case-control studies for publication in neurosurgery.
To establish manuscript quality using a systematic evaluation technique.
