Bronchial Thermoplasty: A Novel Therapeutic Approach to Severe Asthma
Published on: November 4, 2010
Treatment for acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma
Abstract:
Diagnosis of asthma exacerbations (e.g. exclusion of acute heart failure) and assessment of its severity are important for treatment of asthma attacks. Both airway constriction and inflammation are therapeutic targets for asthma exacerbations. Inhaled 02-agonists, corti- costeroids, aminophylline, adrenaline, oxygen therapy, and others are used as needed in acute exacerbations by choosing treatment steps for asthma exacerbations depending on the severity of attacks.

Asthma: Pathogenesis and Management
Asthma is classified as allergic and non-allergic. Allergens such as dust mites, pollen, and pet dander trigger allergic asthma, while factors like cold air, intense emotions, or exercise can induce non-allergic asthma.
Asthma-II: Pathophysiology and Classification
Additionally, environmental and genetic factors play crucial roles in determining an individual's susceptibility to asthma and the severity of their condition.
Critical processes in asthma pathophysiology include:
