Association between Plasma HMGB-1 and Silicosis: A Case-Control Study.

Elevated High-mobility group box-1 (HMGB-1) levels in plasma are linked to silicosis. This study found higher HMGB-1 concentrations in silicosis patients, suggesting it may be a biomarker for this fibrotic lung disease.

- ROC analysis indicated that plasma HMGB-1 >7.419 ng/mL had 81.6% sensitivity and 80.4% specificity for silicosis (AUC = 0.84).

- Elevated plasma HMGB-1 is positively associated with an increased risk of silicosis.
- HMGB-1 may serve as a valuable biomarker for the diagnosis of silicosis.
