Community Based Intervention01:30

Community Based Intervention

479
Community-based interventions in mental health represent a paradigm shift from institution-centered care to treatments embedded within the fabric of local communities. By prioritizing inclusion and leveraging existing societal structures, this approach fosters a supportive environment conducive to addressing mental health challenges while promoting individual dignity and agency.

Nursing Interventions I: Taxonomy of Nursing Interventions

3.9K
Nursing interventions are chosen as part of the planning process to achieve patient outcomes. Once nursing diagnoses are determined, the goals and outcomes are specified, then the nursing interventions are selected and individualized according to the patient's situation.
A nursing intervention is a treatment or action based on scientific concepts and knowledge from the nursing, behavioral, and physical sciences. Identifying and prioritizing nursing interventions based on the desired outcome...

Nursing Interventions II: Selecting and Classifying the Nursing Interventions

3.3K
Creating and executing a nursing diagnosis helps nurses plan care and guide patient, family, and community interventions. They are developed based on a patient's physical evaluation and support measuring the outcomes. It is not recommended to select random interventions throughout the planning process. Instead, consider the following six essential factors when choosing interventions:

Operant Conditioning Intervention01:24

Operant Conditioning Intervention

509
Operant conditioning serves as a foundational principle in therapeutic interventions aimed at modifying maladaptive behaviors. Central to this approach is the notion that behaviors, both adaptive and maladaptive, are learned through reinforcement. By analyzing the environmental factors that reinforce problematic behaviors, clinicians can design interventions to weaken these reinforcements and replace maladaptive behaviors with healthier alternatives.
In operant conditioning, behaviors that are...

Heart Failure VII: Nursing Interventions

500
The first step in nursing management of a patient with heart failure involves thoroughly assessing the patient's medical history.Subjective Data: Obtain the patient's medical history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, myocardial infarction, and symptoms like dyspnea, orthopnea, and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. Objective Data: Conduct a physical examination to identify findings such as jugular vein distention, pulmonary crackles, tachycardia, murmurs, peripheral edema, and vital signs,...

Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

6.2K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Summary

Reducing sedentary time after stroke is crucial. The STand Up Frequently From Stroke (STUFFS) program, a home-based intervention, successfully empowered stroke survivors to decrease sedentary behavior, showing high satisfaction rates.

Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Behavioral Science

Background:

  • Prolonged sedentary behavior is a significant issue for stroke survivors, persisting from acute to chronic recovery phases.
  • Interrupting sedentary time may mitigate adverse health outcomes associated with inactivity post-stroke.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To systematically develop and implement a theory- and home-based intervention to reduce sedentary behavior in stroke survivors.
  • To describe the process of creating the STand Up Frequently From Stroke (STUFFS) program using the Intervention Mapping protocol.

Main Methods:

  • Qualitative inquiry with 13 stroke survivors informed intervention development.
  • The STand Up Frequently From Stroke (STUFFS) program was designed using the Intervention Mapping protocol.
  • Program reception was evaluated via thematic content analysis of exit interviews with 25 participants.

Main Results:

  • The 8-week STUFFS program is a home-based intervention providing education and motivational tools to reduce sedentary behavior.
  • The STUFFS program was well-received, with 89% of participants reporting satisfaction.
  • Qualitative data indicated the program was acceptable and facilitated behavior change.

Conclusions:

  • Theory-based strategies can effectively reduce sedentary behavior in the home environment for stroke survivors.
  • The STand Up Frequently From Stroke (STUFFS) program offers a viable model for implementation in stroke recovery.
  • Further research can build upon these findings to optimize sedentary behavior interventions post-stroke.
