Aversive distractors modulate affective working memory in frontoparietal regions

Negative information in working memory (WM) disrupts cognitive control. Brain activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) and posterior parietal cortex (PPC) decreases, impairing performance when processing aversive distractors.
