Abstract:
Because of the increasing number of AIDS cases diagnosed every day, the need for an effective antiviral therapy is evident. As AIDS patients become more numerous, nurses will discover that they need to know more about antiviral therapy for AIDS. The work that is being done in the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit exemplifies the way that drugs are being developed and tested against the AIDS virus. The development of AZT is highlighted as an example of one of the new drugs that nurses are learning about.
