Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the reliability and validity of a newly developed complaints questionnaire for assessing denture satisfaction.
  • To determine if the questionnaire can differentiate between patients awaiting new dentures and those who have recently received them.

  • Two patient groups (n=113 awaiting new dentures, n=102 with new dentures) completed the questionnaire.
  • Five denture complaint scales were derived from the questionnaire data.
  • Internal consistency (coefficient alpha) and discriminatory ability between groups were assessed.
  • Pearson correlation coefficients were used to evaluate relationships with satisfaction-related questions.

  • The constructed scales demonstrated good internal consistency, with coefficient alpha values ranging from 0.65 to 0.92.
