Inflammatory biomarkers in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: A Turkey case-control study

Inflammatory biomarkers like neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) may help predict benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Elevated NLR, PLR, mean platelet volume (MPV), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and bilirubin levels were observed in BPPV patients.

- Significantly higher mean NLR, PLR, and mean platelet volume (MPV) were observed in BPPV patients compared to controls.
Conclusions:
- NLR, PLR, MPV, ESR, and bilirubin levels are potential biomarkers for BPPV prediction.
- These inexpensive and widely available parameters could be utilized in clinical practice.
- Further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these findings.
