[200th anniversary of the Schola clinica Halensis]
1Lehrstuhl für Geschichte der Medizin, Bereichs Medizin der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg.
The Schola clinica Halensis of the ending 18th century forms the succeeding institution of the Collegium clinicum Halense founded in 1717. Under the leadership of Johann Christian Reil this institution directed to the imparting of practice-orientated knowledge and skill reaches a considerable level. For the first time the contours of a teaching hospital connected with a university are outlined. Shortly after the turn of the century to the clinical and policlinical modalities of training a hospital laboratory is added; bedside chemistry by this means is first consolidated.
