    Background:

    • Implantable loop recorders (ILR) are crucial for diagnosing various cardiac disorders.
    • Recent advancements have led to miniaturized ILRs, facilitating easier implantation and management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ILR implantation and management by certified nurses.
    • To describe the advantages of nurse-led patient education and remote monitoring of ILRs.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 157 consecutive ILR implants (May-December 2016).
    • Comparison of outcomes between implants performed by electrophysiologist physicians and certified nurses.
    • Nurses received a two-day certification course and assisted in 3 procedures.

    Main Results:

    • 83% of ILRs were implanted by certified nurses outside the electrophysiology room.
    • No significant adverse events occurred during implantation or within 30 days.
    • Two minor bleeding complications occurred, one in each group, and were managed conservatively.

    Conclusions:

    • Trained nurses can safely perform implantable loop recorder (ILR) procedures.
    • Nurse-led ILR management outside specialized rooms offers patient and hospital benefits.
    • This expands the role of nurses in cardiac device management.
