Abstract:
. Nurses and the National health service. An exercise for defining the main priority areas for research-education-management, for a future development of a national health service was conducted with an enlarged group of members of the editorial board of this journal. A wide array of proposals and suggestions was offered, with some common aspects: the shift of attention from patients to populations; the need of producing data to inform decisions (and the development of the profession); the attention to the outcomes of the interventions on patients and populations.
