    Background:

    • Exercise mitigates cancer and treatment side effects, but adherence is a challenge.
    • Digital activity trackers (E-DATs) may enhance exercise adherence in cancer survivors, though data are limited.
    • This review examines E-DAT feasibility and impact on cancer survivors' physical activity, body composition, fitness, quality of life, symptoms, and biomarkers.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To systematically review the feasibility and effects of E-DATs in adult cancer survivors.
    • To assess E-DAT impact on activity levels, body composition, fitness, HRQoL, symptoms, and biomarkers.
    • To identify trends in E-DAT technology and intervention parameters.

    Main Methods:

    • Systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between January 2008 and July 2017.
    • Included 12 RCTs with 1,450 adult cancer survivors across various cancer types.
    • Analyzed data on E-DAT technology, duration, follow-up, retention rates, adherence, and outcomes.

    Main Results:

    • E-DATs demonstrated high adherence (>70%) and feasibility in cancer survivors.
    • Significant improvements were observed in step count (3/5 RCTs), activity level (6/9 RCTs), and HRQoL (7/9 RCTs).
    • No significant changes were noted in biomarkers; E-DAT duration did not correlate with adherence or retention.

    Conclusions:

    • E-DATs are a feasible intervention for cancer survivors.
    • E-DATs can positively impact physical activity and health-related quality of life.
    • Future research should focus on optimizing E-DAT type, dose, and schedule for this population.
