Summary

Migraine attacks significantly increase ventricular repolarization markers, including the T-wave peak-to-end (Tp-e) interval and Tp-e/QT ratio. These changes may stem from autonomic nervous system dysregulation during a migraine episode.

  • To assess T-wave peak-to-end (Tp-e) interval and Tp-e/QT ratio as markers of repolarization heterogeneity in migraine.
  • To explore the link between migraine and cardiac repolarization using electrocardiography (ECG).

Main Methods:

  • Observational study involving 63 migraine patients (54 women, mean age 33.3 years).
  • 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) was performed during migraine attacks and attack-free periods.
  • Measurements included QT interval, corrected QT (QTc) interval, Tp-e interval, and Tp-e/QT ratio.

  • QT and QTc intervals were significantly higher during migraine attacks compared to attack-free periods (P < 0.001).

Conclusions:

  • Migraine attacks are associated with increased ventricular repolarization parameters.

  • Tp-e interval and Tp-e/QT ratio are sensitive indicators of cardiac changes during migraine attacks.
