Abstract:
In patients with implants next to natural teeth, clinicians often observe a change in the interproximal space. Although there may have been good proximal contact when the implant crown was inserted, this may have dissolved later. A gap appears to occur in 1/3 to 2/3 of the cases examined, with the mesial side usually being affected. This is mainly explained by the mesial drift of the teeth, while the implant is immobile as an "ankylosed unit".
