Time-compression thresholds for Mandarin sentences in normal-hearing and cochlear implant listeners

Normal hearing listeners can understand Mandarin speech up to 16.7 syllables/s, while cochlear implant (CI) users have a significantly lower limit of 6.8 syllables/s. This quantifies processing limits for fast speech in CI users.
