Summary

This study reports two cases of ballism, a movement disorder. Surgical treatment, cryothalamotomy, effectively reduced hyperkineses in both patients, enabling improved quality of life.

Background:

  • Thalamotomy offers a viable surgical option for managing severe ballism.
  • Effective treatment can significantly improve patient independence and quality of life.
  • Further research into the neurosurgical management of ballism is warranted.
