Crossover experiments, also called the repeated-measurements design, is a study design in which all experimental units are exposed to all treatments in different periods. Crossover experiments are generally used in psychology, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, and medicine.
Crossover designs are performed even with smaller sample sizes since the samples can act as their controls. These are better than simple randomized trials since patients are exposed to all the treatments.

Summary

Iris varices are benign vascular conditions typically found in the inferotemporal iris quadrant. These vascular malformations generally do not cause vision loss, glaucoma, or other serious ocular complications.

Background:

Iris varices are uncommon vascular malformations of the iris.
Understanding their clinical presentation and behavior is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management.

Purpose of the Study:

To delineate the clinical characteristics of iris varices.
To analyze multimodality imaging findings associated with iris varices.
To describe the clinical course and outcomes of patients with iris varices.

Main Methods:

Retrospective, observational case series.
Involved 28 eyes from 26 patients diagnosed with iris varices between 2007 and 2017.
Utilized clinical data, ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), and iris angiography.

Main Results:

The inferotemporal iris quadrant was most commonly affected (75%).
Most iris varices were solitary (64%) and showed radial orientation (57%).
No secondary glaucoma, malignancy, or significant visual morbidity was observed; 96.4% of eyes remained stable during follow-up.

Conclusions:

Iris varix is a benign vascular anomaly.
It is typically located in the inferotemporal quadrant and does not typically lead to pupillary abnormalities, glaucoma, or malignancy.
Iris varices have a favorable prognosis with minimal ocular morbidity.
