For solutions containing mixtures of different cations, the identity of each cation can be determined by qualitative analysis. Background:

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) pose a significant public health challenge among young individuals (15-24) in the US.
Condom distribution programs (CDPs) are a key component of STI prevention strategies for this demographic.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore qualitative insights from condom distribution program planners.
To identify effective implementation strategies for CDPs targeting young people.

Main Methods:

Ten semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with CDP planners.
A response rate of 58.8% was achieved.
Distribution channels analyzed included site-based, web-based, and novel methods like Uber.

Main Results:

Site-based CDPs faced challenges in quality control and supply chain management.
Web-based CDPs reported increasing demand for discreet services and high response rates (up to 63%) for behavioral data collection.
Programs emphasized offering a variety of products, distributing millions of condoms and lubricant sachets annually.

Conclusions:

Novel distribution channels are crucial for reaching adolescents and young adults.
Addressing challenges in site-based distribution and leveraging the demand for discreet web-based services are key to effective CDP implementation.
Ensuring product variety is a common priority across different CDP models.
