Summary

Skin extension by multiple incisions offers a simple, atraumatic method for closing soft tissue defects after trauma. This technique preserves skin sensitivity and mobility, resulting in durable, near-normal skin with a high survival rate.

Background:

Soft tissue defects following trauma require simple and atraumatic closure techniques.
Existing methods may be complex or invasive.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy of skin extension by multiple incisions for healing soft tissue defects post-trauma.

Main Methods:

Retrospective clinical study of 100 soft tissue defects after trauma.
Measurement of defect dimensions and documentation of complications.
Exclusion of combined techniques, preoperative numbness, and incomplete data.

Main Results:

Uneventful healing observed in 81% of defects.
Minor complications in 15%, with 4% requiring revision.
Normal sensitivity to touch was maintained in all cases.

Conclusions:

Skin extension by multiple incisions is an easily learned, instrument-free technique.
Achieves a high survival rate for extended skin.
Preserves skin sensitivity and mobility, leading to durable, functional skin.
