    Background:

    • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is common in obese individuals.
    • Nissen fundoplication treats GERD but may complicate future bariatric surgery.
    • Concomitant treatment for obesity and GERD is increasingly necessary.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Nissen-preserving laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) in patients with prior Nissen fundoplication.
    • To assess weight loss outcomes and GERD symptom changes after this procedure.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of five patients who underwent Nissen-preserving laparoscopic SG between 2011 and 2017.
    • Comparison of pre- and postoperative BMI, excess weight loss, and subjective GERD symptoms.
    • Assessment for immediate postoperative complications.

    • Significant reduction in BMI at one and six months post-surgery (P < 0.001 and P < 0.009, respectively).
