Summary
Spinal arachnoid cysts (SAC) are rare, but can develop years after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Surgical treatment of a large SAC in a SAH patient led to improved neurological function.
Area of Science:
- Neurosurgery
- Neurology
- Spinal Cord Imaging
Background:
- Spinal arachnoid cysts (SAC) are uncommon, with debated etiology.
- Secondary SAC can arise from various factors including trauma and infection.
- Association between subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and SAC is extremely rare, often presenting years later with new neurological deficits.
