Summary

Interoceptive accuracy, or the ability to perceive internal bodily sensations, did not affect exercise performance or psychophysiological responses during maximal exercise tests in young men. This suggests internal perception plays a limited role in exercise capacity.

  • Interoceptive accuracy does not appear to be a limiting factor for submaximal or maximal exercise performance.
  • Psychophysiological responses during maximal exercise are not significantly modulated by an individual's interoceptive accuracy.
  • Future research should explore other factors influencing exercise performance and perception.
