    Summary

    This study reveals that the microsporidian Vairimorpha necatrix, a eukaryote, lacks 5.8S ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Instead, it possesses a single large subunit rRNA with a 5' region homologous to the 5.8S rRNA found in prokaryotes.
