Summary

Magnetic growing rods can be safely used in patients with vagal nerve stimulator (VNS) devices. Studies show that with adequate distance, the magnetic growth rod controller will not interfere with VNS function during lengthening procedures.

  • A distance of >8 cm chest wall thickness in the coronal plane, with appropriate ERC placement, prevents VNS activation.

  • Magnetic growing rod ERC can be safely utilized in patients with VNS devices.
  • Consideration of chest wall thickness and ERC positioning is crucial for safe implantation and lengthening.
  • This research supports the combined use of these technologies in pediatric patients.
