Federal policy prohibits Medicaid funding for undocumented individuals.
California extended Medi-Cal to undocumented children in 2015, with proposals for adults.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze the health insurance, demographics, health status, and access to care of undocumented low-income Californians aged 19-64.
To provide insights into the implications of extending full-scope Medi-Cal eligibility to this population.

Main Methods:

Utilized the latest data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS).
Focused on undocumented low-income adults aged 19-64 residing in California.

Main Results:

The majority of undocumented adults are employed, have children, and report good health.
Significant disparities in health care access exist compared to documented residents.
