The association between hepatitis and osteoporosis: a nested case-control study using a national sample cohort

Hepatitis B virus infection is linked to a higher risk of osteoporosis, particularly in women. Hepatitis C showed no significant association with osteoporosis in this study.

- Subgroup analysis revealed a higher risk of hepatitis B in female osteoporosis patients, but not in males.
Conclusions:
- Hepatitis B virus infection may be a contributing risk factor for developing osteoporosis.
- The association between hepatitis B and osteoporosis appears to be more pronounced in females.
- Hepatitis C does not appear to be significantly associated with osteoporosis in this population.
