    Summary

    Phencyclidine (PCP) causes retrograde amnesia in mice by affecting learning and memory. Its amnesic effects were reversed by physostigmine and naloxone, suggesting involvement of cholinergic or opioidergic systems.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the amnesic action of phencyclidine (PCP) in a mouse model.
    • To determine the time course and neurochemical systems involved in PCP-induced amnesia.

    • A passive avoidance and escape-learning paradigm was employed in mice.
    • PCP was administered post-training, and its effects on memory retention were assessed.
