Galectin-3 as a prognostic biomarker for diabetic nephropathy

Serum galectin-3 levels predict diabetic nephropathy (DN) progression in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients. Higher galectin-3 indicates increased risk for DN complications, including dialysis and death.
