Abstract:
Complications from central venous catheterization for administration of parenteral feeding solutions are common and well documented. In a recent series, complications from catheter placement were reported as 4.8%. We report the case of a patient with cardiac tamponade while receiving parenteral hyperalimentation through a polyurethane central venous catheter.
