    Summary

    High endothelial venules (HEVs) in chronic inflammation sites facilitate lymphocyte migration. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) significantly enhances this process in rheumatoid arthritis, promoting lymphocyte adhesion to endothelial cells.

    Background:

    • Postcapillary venules resembling high endothelial venules (HEVs) are observed at chronic inflammation sites.
    • Lymphocyte migration into rheumatoid synovial membranes is a key feature of rheumatoid arthritis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the role of HEV-like venules in lymphocyte migration into rheumatoid synovial membranes.
    • To determine the effect of inflammatory mediators on endothelial cells (ECs) and lymphocyte emigration.

    • Binding experiments with peripheral blood mononuclear cells and ECs.
