- To explore the relationship between sensory gating impairments and clinical symptoms in PD patients.
Main Methods:
- Magnetoencephalography (MEG) recordings were used with an auditory paired-stimulus paradigm.
- 18 patients with PD and 20 healthy controls underwent MEG scans.
Main Results:
- PD patients showed significantly higher M50 SG ratios in the right inferior frontal gyrus (RIFG).
- PD patients exhibited higher M100 SG ratios in both the RIFG and right superior temporal gyrus (RSTG).
- In the RIFG, M50 SG ratios correlated with Body Sensation Questionnaire (BSQ) and Distractibility scores in PD patients.
Conclusions:
- Panic disorder patients demonstrate a deficient ability to filter irrelevant information.
- These sensory gating deficits may contribute to cognitive misinterpretation of somatic sensations and distractibility in PD.
