A rare angiocentric astrocytoma, a type of glioma, was identified in a domestic shorthaired cat. This central nervous system neoplasm presented with therapy-resistant seizures and distinctive perivascular cell arrangements.
Area of Science:
- Veterinary Neurology
- Comparative Oncology
- Neurosurgery
Background:
- Gliomas are primary central nervous system neoplasms in domestic animals.
- Atypical glioma subtypes, such as angiocentric astrocytoma, are infrequently documented in veterinary medicine.
- Seizures are a common clinical sign associated with central nervous system neoplasms in cats.

Antibody Structure
Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins (Ig), are essential players of the adaptive immune system. These antigen-binding proteins are produced by B cells and make up 20 percent of the total blood plasma by weight. In mammals, antibodies fall into five different classes, which each elicits a different biological response upon antigen binding.
