Pasteurella multocida isolates associated with ovine pneumonia are toxigenic

Ovine isolates of Pasteurella multocida harboring the toxA gene express a functional toxin. This indicates that ovine P. multocida strains associated with pneumonia are toxigenic, similar to those causing progressive atrophic rhinitis in pigs.
