This study introduces a novel Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) model for construction safety management. The model enhances accident prevention by efficiently retrieving and reusing past safety solutions.
Area of Science:
- Construction Management
- Artificial Intelligence
- Occupational Safety
Background:
- Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) is widely used in construction management for tasks like cost prediction and risk assessment.
- There is a significant gap in research integrating CBR with construction safety management for accident prevention.
Purpose of the Study:
- To propose a novel CBR model for construction safety management.
- To focus on efficient case retrieval and reuse for providing safety solutions to new problems.
Main Methods:
- Defining case problem and solution attributes using hazard states, unsafe behavior, and objective unsafe states.
- Utilizing frame-based knowledge representation for case database construction.
- Employing cloud graph and thesaurus methods for attribute weighting and case similarity calculation (word and sentence level).
- Establishing principles for case revision and retention.
Main Results:
- A CBR model was developed and validated through a real-world case study.
- The model demonstrated applicability and effectiveness in providing safety solutions.
- The proposed model facilitates pre-control and decision-making for construction safety accidents.
Conclusions:
- The developed CBR model offers an efficient approach to construction safety management.
- It aids safety managers in making informed decisions for accident prevention measures.
- The research contributes to the proactive management of construction safety.
