    Summary

    Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunostimulant therapy alters colony stimulating factor (CSF) levels and enhances bone marrow cell production. This suggests BCG may modify the marrow toxicity of certain cancer drugs.

    Background:

    • To assess the effect of BCG on bone marrow progenitor cells, specifically CFU-C (colony-forming units-culture), and their DNA synthesis.

    • Mice were administered repeated intraperitoneal doses of BCG.
