Background:

  • The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center has provided an Interdisciplinary Training Program (ITP) for Child Abuse and Neglect since 1987.
  • Limited evaluations exist for multidisciplinary/interprofessional training programs for early professionals in this field.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of the ITP on the career development and leadership roles of young professionals in child abuse and neglect.
  • To assess alumni satisfaction and their contributions to the field.

Main Methods:

  • An anonymous online survey was distributed to graduates of the ITP from 1989 to 2016.
  • The survey targeted 405 alumni, with 179 (44.2%) responding.

Main Results:

  • Alumni reported high satisfaction with the ITP (mean score of 9.3 out of 10).
  • Graduates made significant contributions across child advocacy (43.0%), clinical treatment (39.1%), primary prevention (29.6%), and research (27.9%).
  • Alumni reported 133 presentations and 69 publications since completing the program.

  • Alumni express high satisfaction and recognize the program's crucial role in their careers.
