Background:

  • Graduated compression stockings are crucial for enhancing venous function.
  • However, the in situ pressure profiles and direct functional impacts of various compression stockings remain under-investigated.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the pressure profiles and functional efficacy of below-knee graduated compression stockings.
  • To assess the impact of satisfactory versus unsatisfactory stockings on venous refilling times in patients with venous abnormalities.

Main Methods:

  • Pressure profiles of 15 compression stockings were measured using a medical stocking tester in 13 healthy volunteers.
  • Venous function was assessed using photoplethysmography in 19 patients with venous abnormalities, comparing the effects of three satisfactory and three unsatisfactory stockings on venous refilling time.
